Bug Problem With PhonePlus v1.50
Written By: Rick Brown 7-25-91
Bug-Fix 9-25-1991
Recently I have received a few phone calls and some e-mail regarding error
13 on version 1.50 of PhonePlus. Many friends of mine use PhonePlus, and I
use it regularly. I was unable to duplicate the problem on my machine.
The other nite I received a call from Rick Krough stating that he had
received the dreaded error 13. He brought me a disk with the version and
data-file on it to me. I was able to finally duplicate the error. The
error that I incurred was a result of double quotes being used somewhere
in the data-file. The example I received was used when a single character
was used for a street name. (Ex: 1335 "A" Street) Since I used a
sequential file for the data-file, this causes a problem while reading a
data-file.
I have fixed this problem by replacing double quotes with single quotes..
This should fix the problem..
How to repair corrupted data-files:
First make a back up of your data-file.
Next take your favorite text-editor (i.e. QED, JED, MEmacs ect..) and
open your data-file into the editor. Simply look for irregularities in
the file, such as the example I gave above. Then save the file.. Although
this could be a pain if you have a lot of records, it should solve the
problem without losing your file. The new version of PhonePlus will
prevent any further problems using double quotes. PhonePlus will
simply replace them with single quotes.
If you incurr any other bugs, please feel free to call me, or leave me
mail on Genie (R.BROWN62)
Remember, PhonePlus is ShareWare, please send $5.00 (or whatever you feel
it is worth to you) to register your version of PhonePlus..
Thanx,
